Just a quick question, that may have been asked earlier, but it's something that i think every time i see the home page:
Quote: | DDR Freak is dedicated to Dance Dance Revolution players in and around the US |
Why not change it to players around the world? DDRFreak is now a global site, as the forums show, so why is it still dedicated to just the US? You're global!! You're huge! Show it off!

There needs to be a message in large font size at the top telling first-timers to read the FAQ before posting and the consequences of not reading it.[/quote] |

Perhaps something should be included about the difference between these two buttons:
and
recently I've seen more new topics created in response to another post in another thread than I've ever seen since my join date. |

go here and find out
As for what someone said about having "READ THE FAQ" in big letters, there's been talk about making the FAQ part of the sign up process.. ie: the FAQ will be shown to all new users during the registration process. _________________

A few things:
The FAQ text neglects the new "Check your points feature". Instead of making members perform arithmetic to check their points, which, arguably, most point holders are barely capable of, you can just check your profile by clicking the link at the top of the page.
Perhaps it would be good to mention Stickied Threads. Quite a few of the stickied threads, especially the "official" threads in DDR @ Home, have a warn warning in the first post for asking questions that are answered in the first post. Mayhaps a carte blance "Read stickied threads before you post in them" rule would be helpful.
The old FAQ mentioned, I think, that only mods/admins can post polls. _________________

The "check your points" feature was implemented 3 days ago; I actually wrote those revision to the FAQ a long time before that was even considered.
That said, I had the same thought, and I'll make sure someone fixes that later. _________________

Perhaps some of the default phpBB FAQ stuff should be yanked from the FAQ, as it directly conflicts with some of the DDRFreak FAQ info, or is otherwise outdated.
For instance, there's a whole section that DDRFreak made for postrank, and then under that, there's the section for phpBB, where, under "How do I get to be a Usergroup Moderator?", the answer is "Ask us!".
Another one I noted is a "Why isn't feature X implemented?" topic, which really has more to do with phpBB administrators as opposed to users, _________________

*nod*
I have a small list of things (which is slowly turning into a large list) to work on for the site and I intend on working on that once we have a couple policy decisions completed.
Rest assured, those will be cured when I go through it. _________________

I just noticed that the old FAQ (I believe) had sig rules (and I think avatar rules too). I was just trying to get the exact parameters for the sig, since I'm looking to expand mine a bit, and that's when I noticed it wasn't there. Had to go hunt it down in the Announcement thread at the top of Imaging.
If I happen to be wrong, and the old FAQ didn't contain this at all, then the new FAQ probably should.
Perhaps the size rules should also be stated in profile.php, under the text which says "This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 512 character limit". _________________
