Post Bug - Page x+1 of x

Is it just me, or is this getting worse?

In the "SE needs a new mod" topic, I have the last post. However, it still shows Natural Born Hero as the last poster, and the "click the little page thingy" doesn't bring my (or L'amour's) post up, even though I KNOW they're there. Probably because it still recognizes NBH's as the last post; and thus brings the topic only as far as his post.

The "&start=<next page post #>" thing still works, though.

EDIT: Mother of all irony. I'm not recognized as the last poster in this topic; though the "Jump To page..." option is avaliable, and will bring you to page 2. Only in the thread; not on the topic list.

EDIT AGAIN: Must have been my computer. Ran disk cleanup, and now everything's working perfectly.

I'm doing this MS paint challenge in the UK forum and that thread is constantly plagued with the post bug.... I was wondering if there is a way to transfer all of the previous posts to a new thread.. and lock the old one?

Seems like these bugs are getting worse. About a year ago, it was a pretty uncommon occasion. Now, it seems as if 2 or 3 threads in every forum are bugged. Is this something that can be cured with an upgrade?

I've had the problem strike when I made the 20th post to a thread in the UK forum. It's not updating the number of posts properly either. BTW, I am working as a programmer and I may be able to help with the code (i.e. trying to find where the bug is). Maybe timestamping posts would help if you get several in at once, then you can order them and put them into the thread based on the timestamps? *Is unsure whether that's a good idea...

NEXT TIME SOMEONE SEES A POST WITH THE POST BUG, PLEASE IM ME WITH ITS URL.

I'm determined to fix this problem, and I think it's probably just a php bug. However, since I never seem to be able to find them, I need to know about them as they happen so I can work quickly to try and debug it.

Start handing out the medals. I have implemented a fix for future posts, and am in the process of fixing all of the already broken posts. Soon this bug will be a thing of the past.

one thing i've noticed now is that some threads now have 1 more recorded reply than real replies. So the problem has been reversed.

The Hot Guys Thread in Imaging is currently exhibiting the same problem. It says it has 540 replies and is on page 28. However in actuality it has 539 replies and page 28 does not exist.

Ok, I found the error in my code (stupid.. stupid..) and the fix will be committed site-wide within the hour.

I am also going through the entries in the database that are skewed and fixing them.

If any problems like this continue PAST 11am PDT, please let me know.

Yes, PM me about it. I have implemented code to check and fix the post bug any time anyone replies to a message, so any occurrences of the post bug should be RARE if ever now.
