Anyway, the idea is not that great. If DDRfreak was hurting for money, then sure... but obviously if this site generates enough money that they can afford to send some of it's mods to E3, I don't think there is a problem there. I don't know what "exclusive content" they could possibly provide that you can't find elsewhere for free anyway. All I gotta say is things are fine the way they are. _________________

the site didn't generate the money to send the mods to E3. J Dogg paid out of his pocket for them to go. _________________

I agree with you there. We're doing pretty well the way we are, and I don't intend to have some pay/premium thing for users, unless it costs a lot of money to do. The usual business model of making money from other businesses (via advertising, etc.) is working for me, and I currently don't see any reason to start charging users. If there was a large enough demand for pay/premium with no ads, etc., then I might consider it, however. Of course, what I do has a lot to do with what users want.
BTW, my pocket, the site's pocket.. it was pretty much the same thing until a few months ago when I formed DDR Freak into a LLC with its own tax id number. _________________

I agree that there isn't much of a need for this right now. The only reason I would see us having a need to do it is if a significant amount of users didn't want banner ads, and that would end up making it more difficult to pay for the site. Then we could charge those who wanted to remove banner ads.
But I don't think that we would need to do it solely to generate more revenue (although I don't have any numbers on how much money this place brings in and spends ). And, if we did it solely to generate more revenue, then the features that we would give people would probably end up being features that aren't wanted, and would probably either be worthless or we'd have to remove some key feature from free accounts just to get people to pay for accounts. That would end up pissing off a lot of people and we'd probably lost some members. _________________

Yeah, most of the time you dont even notice the banners, I'd only really have a problem if there were massive ammounts of pop-ups that take control of your screen... . It would be cool to have extra features and extra forums for premium account users though, but it might discourage regular users from using the site as much. With anything you do, there WILL be advantages and disadvantages, so it will come down to what the mods decide, because theres always going to be someone that dissagrees with something.
