After posting, could we eliminate the "click here to be taken to your post" or "click here to go to the forum" option?
I'm no expert on PHP or how it operates, but it seems like this would be easy enough to bypass with a simple setting in the profile. Choices could be either
a) Always take me to my post
b) Always take me to the forum
c) Give me a choice
I know that I get mighty tired of clicking "take me to the forum" every time I post. |

The problem isn't one of bandwidth - It's one of database overhead. Eliminating the jump page would actually reduce server efficiency, as it forces everyone to cool their heels for a few seconds and allows other requests to go through. The jump page itself uses no DB resources, and provides the server time to update the index.
If the jump page didn't exist, the possibility exists that you could post, reload, and not see your post, because your view request managed to be served before the DB post. _________________
