You've just never tried ;P |
HAHA!
So which is it? Can they post in locked topics, or do they have to unlock it first? |
We can post in locked topics by clicking the locked icon that replaces the post reply icon in a forum we can moderate. _________________

When mods click on the "locked" button it'll bring up a reply screen. So yes, they don't have to unlock it to reply. _________________

We can also go to any post and hit quote and post a reply that way even after it's locked |

I can see the headline now, "Vivid Member Gets Warned By Mod!" lol!!!
Doesn't surprise me that mods can post in locked topics; I kinda figured.
And what was this "Warn War" I heard about earlier in this thread, something about mods accumulating several hundred points? Was that a joke or did that actually happen?
I'm sure mods have a button to delete threads (or perhaps that's admins only, I wouldn't know). But that button should say "Destroy" or "Annihilate" or something along those lines. Imagine a mod threatening to "annihilate your thread so it will never see the light of day again." lol!
I'm also wondering, when one mod warns you, do other mods have the ability to take back the points given, or is it such that only the mod who warned you can take them back? _________________

Moderators can delete single posts, or entire threads (by deleting the first post). Or move them to a Recycling Bin forum, for safe keeping.

Only the moderator who issued the points can take them back... And I'd assume the admins have the power to take points back as well. _________________

*checks the warn admin page*
Yep. I can remove any warn. Doesn't mean I will, but I could. _________________

To let everyone know I just got warned with points for my post above. Reason post whoring. So yes vivid members can get points and banned. Vivid members really are trick members with a flashy icon for special reasons. |

It is not a "war" but an ongoing count of who has warned the most and whatnot. You should have read my post earlier in the thread about it.

I was talking to one of the mods over AIM and he mentioned something about PMG being banned, but I've noticed that he still posts, only he's a Trick member now. Is there some sort of story behind this? |

Uh...I dunno who thinks he's been banned, but he hasn't. He felt that he was unable to give enough time to DDR Freak to be a moderator, so he resigned. That's why he's a Trick Member. _________________

Wow, you guys have a Recycling Bin forum too. Thats a really good idea I didn't think anyone else used, so the entire moderating team can discuss a certain person or group of people if they are close to getting banned.
Also, is there a reason you guys lock everything instead of just moving it? It is a rare occasion on DDRFreak that I will see a moved thread.
I also have another Q. Each forum lists their moderators, and at the end it has the "Regulator" member list. Does this mean that all the mods on that member list has moderating abilities in EVERY forum? _________________

You know that old overused adage, 'Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for life'...
Well, it's that kind of concept. People don't read the FAQ and don't use common sense when posting sometimes. If their post is locked and they are forced to re-create the thread in the appropriate forum, they are much more apt to learn how the board works than if we just moved it for them.

Correct! Everyone in the Regulators group has global moderating abilities.
Originally, all of the moderators had universal abilities. As the board grew, however, we had to start adding local moderators for certain regions because it really helped to have someone in the area who knows the area moderating. Most local moderators eventually become global moderators after a period of time anyway after a vote by the moderators as a whole. _________________

Thats a good concept, very understandable. One last Q. Your news scroller on the front page, do you guys have to make up a news report and send it to J Dogg for it to be posted through FTP, or is it one of those PHP Nukes, where all the mods can just post something on the front page? _________________

Making a new thread in the headline forum is all a moderator needs to do. _________________
