Hello, I'm the hoster of the videos, I recently got them back up (due to my server moving and problems with the old provider). But thanks to some lamer, I've taken them down for a few days.
Here's his original message:
From: "Brett Reinhart" <reinhart_brett@hotmail.com>
Subject: complaint: connection couldn't be established!!!!
Also, when I am suppose to right click and go to save target
as, my download should appear. Well assholes, it doesn't work so you better fix this
problem ASAP becuase this is the message I keep getting you punkass
motherfuckers!!!!!!!!
It's great that he's complaning about dns propigation (like he's actully paying for this) idiots like that make me feel like not hosting anything at all.
If all goes well, it should be back up by midweek.
Anyways have a good night people. |

Could you make it so that you can ban anyone who sends you a nasty email, and when they try to download the videos it says "Sorry, only nice people are allowed to download?"
That would rock _________________

Most of the people who send me hate mail are usally on DSL, I guess banning their city for a few days could get the point across. btw Jason, you should upload the new videos if any during the downtime. |

Would it be more convenient for bandwidth usage if all the movies were packaged in individual .zip files so people can't stream them from the host? _________________

Not really, you would save like 300 bytes. It would only compress the header. |

It would be helpful only if you had people stream it over and over again. Then you could force them to download it as opposed to wasting bandwidth again and again. _________________

You'd probably get people downloading the zip over and over |

The benefit of turning the files into zips in order to prevent people from streaming them in window media player is not worth the overhead involved in zipping them. _________________

I'm a brand-new member who's only been playing DDR for a couple of weeks now; I registered just so I could reply to this thread.
I just wanted to let you (supers) know that there is at least one person (me) who, unlike the emailer above, is very grateful that someone is willing to host such a collection of videos in the first place, and is very excited that they'll be returning so I can see some of them. Thank you very much!
{EDIT: While I'm at it, I should thank the webmasters/administrators of *this* site too; I've been enjoying it greatly even though most of this stuff is still well over my head.
Oh yeah, and DDR Freak Radio @ Live365 is awesome too. } |

The video files are up once again. I've banned that guy's subnet on the server, so if you're on his subnet on cox.net, you know who to thank. |

Will new additions to the video hosting have to be re-uploaded (the ones that were uploaded while the vids were down)? _________________

I too have registered just to reply to this thread, heh and is also from missouri. Iv sent an email the night before the videos returned and offered too mirror as many videos as I could get my hands on.
Another option is to have a bit torrent tracker for videos and put them in archives, zips, rars, tars. I dunno, their are many options, but I just wanna help get more videos round as possable.
I wanna get more videos of local events, along with the upcomming tourny online. If somebody with more videos that are not already up on the videos section of this site, please PM, I can also send you more videos to compensate. |

Jason's bandwidth needs for hosting the videos is quite large. I expect you're offering something on the order of your broadband pipe or a shared server account with a monthly bandwidth limit. Jason's needs for bandwidth far exceed that. IIRC, he needed capability to move the equivalent of Ethernet spec - 10 Megabits per second. _________________

Even though im new to these forums doesnt mean I dunno what connections are needed :pp
How does a OC12 with no bandwidth limits sound? At the moment a cartoon series called Invader ZiM is currently eating away space and bandy, sence DVDs are commin out soon for this show i wanna scrap these files and up some full tournys.
If for any reason the HTTP serv is to have any problems bit torrent is always a nice way to get large files around when they are in high demand :c
Example tracker: http://invaderzim.edwardk.info also a link to the http server has a link there as well.
Im not tryin to be "spammy" I just wanna help you guys distro these files :0 |

Well sofar this month it used about 3.2tb so far.
bittorrent wouldnt be a good idea, as you would need a seed there 24/7.
how do you have a oc12 connection to your box? do you have a ATM nic in there or something? The max I've seen was a 155mbit ATM nic, which OC12 is 622 mbit |

I would be willing to venture out and say that he isn't hosting the files out of the same box, but of course, I don't know.
and yes, BT = .
So many people whine because DDRUK's bumpers won't complete because hardly anyone seeds complete archives. _________________
