Is it really needed? A noticiable portion of the threads are repeats of old threads, or just pointless posts. I am just not liking the state of it. I'm just chiming my opinion as a long time (2yrs+) member here!

Well, if there were no Chit Chat, then where would all of the newbies go to talk about DDR?
Nothing against newbies at all, but that's where the majority of thier questions end up. Most people who are here for 4+ months, move on to the fun that is within Random Chat and only read/post there. It's kinda of like the floppy disk drive of DDRFreak. |

Good Point I guess, but I remember that's why the NNI forum was around. Perhaps Bringing that back and eliminating CC? Dunno. Guess I just wanna help out *blushes*

Chit Chat took over as part of that because we looked at everything and felt that we could split up NNI's functions in to different forums. _________________

I kinda agree with DMN. If we still had the N/N/I forum, we wouldn't have the problem of repeated or bumped topics, because repeat/bump topics were okay there. To me, DDR chit-chat seems like the place where it's nearly impossible to get any NEW topics of discussion, unless you're a newbie. _________________

I kinda agree with JustJeff... if there were no Chit Chat forums then some of the stuff would spill onto the regionals, and those are already filled with enough reposts and other BS as it is. _________________

Looking at all the other DDR related forums, the posts inside Chit Chat will fit into one of those easily. Plus, by eliminating Chit Chit, it's an out of sight out of mind thing, resulting in overall less posts in those sections.
It will save you a large amount of bandwidth. _________________

So... if all of the Chit-Chat threads fit into other boards, and we delete Chit-Chat, what happens to all those threads?
Oh yeah, they go to the other boards, and still take up a lot of bandwidth. _________________

Chit-Chat seems like the place for n00bs to post. Who cares if the topics get repeated or not? The people posting them don't know their thread has been done before. Even if they did, why would they be content to just read a thread from 3 months ago and never post at all?
I just checked CC and NINE of the unlocked topics were started by newbies. Good. They come here, start their little discussion, and enjoy themselves. I don't see what the problem is. People, some n00bs themselves, will post in these threads and another generation of repeated discussion is born. Fine with me. Who still discusses DDR with earnest after two years, anyway?
The N/N/I forum made sense too because of its name. That's the place to go for help and boasting and whatnot. It was allowed. My first real post was there, and the responses my thread got made me feel welcomed.
Chit-Chat has become a dangerous place to try to start a thread. This one lasted only 14 hours. Even I'm not sure if "Do spectators stand too close when you play doubles?" belongs in Chit Chat, Gameplay, or Arcade Games! |

This was why I was against the N/N/I forum, which would have allowed newbies to feel welcome and to discuss things that newbies talk about. I feel that our policies may drive them away. _________________
