ddrfreak is lucky to have a good batch of mods. a lot of other forums on the internet aren't run nearly as well, and the mods aren't as cool. but I guess I'm a bit biased with the latter since I'm friends with a good-sized handful of the mods on here. _________________

The mods are nice, I learned this from other boards. Yes, they seem to be obnoxious, but if you just got to know them a bit, they are fairly good people.
I don't know any mods here, they have my respect, but I still am afriad of them....older...and tougher....adults....

Actually, the majority are over 21.
Just browsing down the list, I can count at least 20 mods who are over 21. _________________

...you don't have to be 21 to buy cigarettes or porn.
I'm old enough to buy both of those (but I don't). CStar on the other hand . _________________

Cstar, have you been on the internet lately? The porn is vast and plentiful there. _________________

That's pretty much what Bit Torrent and Kazaa Lite are for |
They have cigarettes on bit torrent now?
Technology is amazing... _________________

I didn't say I couldn't get porn.
I said I couldn't buy porn.
Which isn't exactly true, either, since my friends keep trying to sell me their used porno magazines and movies. |

Would you really honestly want USED porn magazines anyway? _________________

The main problem with moderators on this and many other boards is over-moderating. Over-moderating kills a lot of discussion and happens largely because mods feel they MUST exercise their power to lock threads even if there is no good reason to do so. A bit like too many cops policing an area with little or no crime and in turn starting to harrass citizens with more parking fines. Fines for not keeping your backyard tidy, public swearing, looking at a cop the wrong way, etc...
There are a great number of moderators on many discussion boards on the internet who have no power and no accomplishments to fall back on in their real lives. Being a moderator on a discussion board gives them some simulated power, the ability to lock threads, delete, edit what other people wrote makes up for the fact they've got a crappy life or even no life elsewhere. A lot of mods are sad creatures really. _________________

I'm just glad we don't have too many incidents were mods overexert their power on this board. Actually, we're lucky we have mods who actually enforce their power in the first place. Take a look at the Penny Arcade forums, or basically any other forum for that matter, and you'll see that we have a happy forum community compared to those other hell holes. _________________

Some have been unnecessary, that's why you PM the mod and explain your case.
As far as worthless threads entirely. We like to give users a degree of fun and freedom, but some times it's just too much. We don't have a ton of resources around here, so we do out best to conserve what we do have.

And the question begs to be asked... are you referencing anybody on these boards? _________________
