St00pidbaka, I think the definition has to be a bit clearer than that though, "they go from one arrow to the next" doesn't say a whole lot. Maybe like "A stream that alternates rapidly between two arrows." Is that right? I'm just learning this term myself, so correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think I should say "a stream of 16ths" or something because I think these can be 12th notes, 24th notes, 32nd notes, or even 8th notes. |
Well machine gun steps usually are from 4th notes to 16th notes or 16th notes to 36th notes. I don't think there are 8th, 12th, or 32nd notes in DDR. _________________

12th = tripolet = gallop its rare to have it actualy synced right but they are in the game
and we use 32nd notes not these 36th notes you speak up ( i shudder at the meter that has 36th notes)
and yea the game also has 8th notes
infact the more that i thnk about how the beats are devised the more that the steps cant relaly be quantified in musical notation it used to make sense but now it dosnt
i mean just falling on the beat dosnt make a note a quarter note infact a quarter note can fall on the beat anywehre it wants just like any other be devision </braindeadrant> _________________

Oh jeez, don't bring up comparisons between real music notation and DDR notation, that's just bound to bring up confusion. In real music notation, the value of the note sort of determines where the next note falls (I realize this is an oversimplification, but oh well), whereas in DDR the value of the note determines where the note itself falls. _________________

I'm making a big to-do list out of this, as things go. _________________

That's what I was hoping with this thread, just kind of a general everyone help out to see if we can make the dictionary better.
Footer, how the hell did I miss that? Every other thread in chit-chat is "What's a footer?"
I'm going to clean up the first post a bit. I'll add "footer", put up my definition of "machine guns", get rid of all the extraneous flags, because that idea was shut down, but I'm still holding out for those song abbreviations. I think it might be good to have a little subsection of the dictionary for "commonly used song abbreviations" or something, or if not that, at LEAST put PSMO in the dictionary. The "What's PSMO?" thread is almost as common as the "What's a footer?" thread.
EDIT: BTW, Cutriss, if you could, give us a heads up if you decide to modify the dictionary. Thanks. _________________

There's a lot of good things to consider here. That's not to say that I'll be adding "chartreuse flag" and such, but this discussion has definitely provided some good ideas of things to add. _________________

Take a look at the current dictionary.
See any attributions in there? No? Good. There aren't any. It's an index of words that *everyone* uses. _________________
