| Is there a reason that it says "Renaissance" at the bottom of the background when the song starts, or is this just another useless distraction? |

Like Reenee said, it's the music genre.
But I'll elaborate a little more on WHY it's there:
A is a song from the BEMANI game "Beatmania IIDX". All the songs in IIDX are not only known by their respective titles, but also by their musical genres. When you start a song in IIDX, it shows the Title, the Artist and the Genre. A is considered "Renaissance" music by Konami and dj TAKA/Amuro, so they put it down as the musical genre in the game. The image you see in the background of A in DDR is part of the video that plays for A in IIDX. Same thing with Colors (for Extreme) and V (for Extreme), etc with all the other (for Extreme)/(Extreme Version) songs.
