I've seen this topic in bits and pieces in different threads all across the board. People asking if the FS community is dead in the water and why yet we have yet to have a full blown discussion on the issue. After talking to the likes of Mel B, Wendel, A-Jay and CaptainCanada at fanime I felt compelled to make this thread.

Don't get me wrong guys, I have nothing against PA. Most DDR players do PA. My full respect goes out to these people as they can shift their body weight and spin to beat 10-footer songs like there's no tomorrow.

The thing is, I fell in love with the game because of freestyle. I would watch videos of DJ 8-Ball on DDR Freak and was amazed that the game could be played in such a way.

With that said, the question comes back (forgive me if I sound like an English teacher). What happened to freestyle?

Let's see if we can get a lively discussion from this topic.

let's try to invigorate freestyling again (and in time for supernova too). during the summer when i have more time i plan to choreograph and record some fs routines. i've devoured all of ddrfreak's fs videos plus more that i've dug up through google searching and the wayback machine, and i'd like to be able to contribute routines of my own.

I was never around when freestyle was popular, but I say it should come back... it's way more fun to watch instead of people aiming for a good scrore and solely facing the machine all the time...

Dunno. It makes it more... dance-like... than it is normally... which is somehow good.

With me, freestyle never really died. It slowed down (due to me having 2 jobs and currently awaiting to go back to school in the fall) ... but never died.

Thankfully I work in an arcade where I have access to 2 DDR machines, so I can play and practice to my heart's content.

I still dance, freestyle, and practice having fun ... ever since I started hehe. E4.gif

With SuperNova out now, I hope it starts a "remix to ignition" of the freestyle flame.
