IIRC, "Oni/Challenge" was originally a mode that was supposed to be between Standard and Heavy. I don't know what mix they changed it at, but thats why some songs Oni steps are easier/harder than Heavy.

All 3 of these songs (complete with butchered spelling) have Oni steps harder than their Heavy steps. Isn't that a good thing? We like that last time I checked.

Dynamite Rave is open for Debate though. Which one is harder? I say Heavy, but my friends say Oni. The charts are too similar in difficulty for my liking.

That was the point. OMGWTFDIE said he would edit his post with whatever songs people say.

As for Dynamite Rave, I say Oni is way, waaaay harder than heavy, and is one of the most deceptively hard stepcharts in the game. It really doesn't look that hard, but it feels much harder when you actually play it. In fact, I've AA'd all but 9 of the 9-footers on Extreme, and Dynamite Rave Oni is one of the ones I haven't been able to get yet.

To the OP, I don't think you can count Tsugaru and Matsuri Japan has having Oni steps easier than heavy, since the Oni and Heavy stepcharts are on two different mixes of the songs. That's like saying Orion .78's light steps are harder than the standard steps since Orion .78 Civilization Mix is a 6 on light and Orion .78 AMeuro Mix is a 5 on standard.

And finally, how is it possible to ruin a thread titled "Poop Faucet"?

Likely to draw attention since people will be curious as to what it's about.

Why people keep saying that ONI is a difficulty?

I thought ONI is like Nonstop Mode or something?

Oni = Challenge

Oni difficulty = Challenge difficulty.

Oni mode = Challenge nonstop mode. (the one with the battery lifebar.)

you have to do a lot of double-stepping on eighths/quarters to do the sixteenth spurts naturally.

i'm interested in what 9's you have yet to AA, as that might be indicative of why you're having trouble with dynamite rave oni in particular.

interesting, I've always felt DR oni was much easier than Heavy. That heavy chart is one of the worst in the game, and has some seriously retarded steps. Just the thought of that "LR-D-L" 16th cluster makes me shudder.

Dynamite Rave Heavy is a tad harder than Oni, because it has those retarded jump combos that were popular back in the 3rd Mix days.

Oni wasn't really designed to be harder than heavy, per se, but more alternate heavy steps.

Oni charts used to only be in Oni mode, so the idea was for them to be hard to combo modless (i.e., have a lot of stupid patterns). Everyone I've ever met calls that one part of DR "the dynamite rave step," so if you say that they'll probably know what you mean.
