Then... don't take a long break and expect to be omgwtf good when you go back? That's all I can think of.
Oh, and practice lol. _________________

You're not wanting to hear the only answer there truly is. Practice harder 12's or 11's (depending on your skill level)? |

Play streamy stuff like Hardcore of the North over and over again until you can FA it really well.
In other words, practice lol. _________________

Or that ankle weight thing Steven was talking about, though I don't know how effective that is. _________________

Unfortunately, this is the best solution. Don't worry about it, just practice and have fun _________________

Actually, in all seriousness, how would I go about improving that aspect of play? Would you increase stamina so that you can expend more energy to go faster or would you strengthen your legs.. I'm actually at a loss for this myself (for 190-200 BPM streaming) _________________

you actually need leg muscles. thats pretty much it. theres no real way to conserve your stamina like you can at 170bpm or lower, its much more strength intensive. the way to do that is to practice past your normal comfort zone. you shouldnt be passing the songs you're practicing on. you should play 190-200 bpm streamy songs as much as you can, and as hard as you can. take a break, then come back for more. over time, you'll build up the muscles you need. _________________

In addition to DukAmok's advice, you could start working on slower stuff, then work your way faster and faster. That's what i do. play songs with 170 bpm 16th streams, untill you're really comfortable. Then work on 180, then 185, 190, 195, then 200 or even continue higher if you must. At that point it takes a long time though, lol. Strangeprogram is a bitch.
Yea, umm....practice, legstrength, work your way up. _________________

Jogging a few miles a couple of times a week increases cardiovascular strength, which in turn, helps increase stamina. If you're having problems with songs in the 190+ BPM range, those are more strength issues as Ryan put it. For stuff like One More Lovely, it's about "Coverting a sprint into a relaxed pace," which has to do a lot with foot control (ie minimizing movement). The shorter the distance you can place between the arrows, the faster the arrows you'll be able to hit.
So as far as improving, just keep playing stupidly hard stuff 'til you die. |

Any suggestions on that "hard stuff" that I can use? I mean, A (BMR), Lawn Wake IV (which I wasnt a fan of, chart wise), Blue Army, Disconnected Hazard, OML, etc. are alright, but is there anything else? Or maybe specific edits of certain songs (Dokudenpa, etc.)? Just something to offer up a bit of diversity, seeing as I'll be failing these for a significant period of time until the muscles develop. Also, would weight training help in this? Or any specific running programs (for the track stars in the group)? _________________

Dokudenpa, One More Lovely, Beyond Abilities, Destination (Mungyodance1), Final Destination (Mungyodance2), Shind Bad, Blue Army, Emerald Sword (ew), Determinator Long Version (extended middle run), Bonecrusher, Narcissus at Oasis (jumpy), Anything Lawnwake, Monolith Stamina Killer, Holy Orders (the 24th note runs), Vertex Alpha, Vertex Beta, Due Tomorrow (R2112 Pack), Endorphin Machine (R2112Pack), On the Beach (CZip Pack). Also take a look at the CZip pack for a lot of hard stuff.
As far as running goes, that won't do much for the leg strength. Just practicing the fast stuff a lot gets you the muscles (and more importantly, muscle memory) that you'll need. |

Play hard songs no bar. And by hard, I mean 11s/12s.
I play mostly no bar now, and my stamina shot through the roof. |

If you want to work on speed, you need to tax those fasttwitch muscle fibers (eg. heavy lifting).
But, any weight training does the body good.
Practice though, the only guaranteed truth. _________________

Just ignore your energy so you don't feel tired. That's how I passed Hardcore of the North expert before I could pass Vertex hard. (I fell asleep after that lol) |
